Rep. Ami Bera Secures Over $13 Million to Rehabilitate Runway at Mather Airport

SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - On Sept. 17, U.S. Representative Ami Bera, M.D. (CA-06) announced $13,044,668 in grant funding from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to rehabilitate the runway at Sacramento’s Mather Airport:

“Mather Airport plays a vital role in our region’s transportation and economic infrastructure,” said Representative Ami Bera. “This funding will help ensure that Mather’s 11,300-foot runway can be properly rehabilitated, extending its lifespan and enhancing safety. Investments like this are key to supporting local jobs, bolstering our economy, and ensuring that Sacramento County remains a critical gateway for goods and services, both regionally and nationally. I’m proud to deliver this grant funding and look forward to seeing the benefits it will bring for years to come.”

“This $13 million FAA grant is critical to rehabilitating the 11,300-foot runway at Mather Airport at a total cost of $39 million,” said Cindy Nichol, Director, Sacramento County Department of Airports. “The airport serves as an important cargo and general aviation hub and this funding allows us to refurbish a critical asset with deep historical roots and a bright future serving the region.”

This grant award brings the total amount of federal funding secured by Representative Bera during the 118th Congress to over $250 million.

Congressman Ami Bera, M.D. has represented Sacramento County in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2013. The 6th Congressional District is located just east and north of California's capitol city, Sacramento, and lies entirely within Sacramento County.
