Sacramento Builder's Exchange Hires New Executive Director
Sacramento, CA – The Sacramento Builders’ Exchange (SBE) is proud to announce it has hired Joshua L. Wood as its new Executive Director and charged him with leading the 1,550 member trade association. Mr. Wood has been with SBE since 2006, serving first as Governmental Affairs Coordinator and, most recently, as Political Director During his tenure at the Builders’ Exchange, Mr. Wood has successfully lobbied against increasing various city and county building fees, worked to retract a passed construction and demolition-recycling ordinance and re-pass the ordinance without upfront deposits for complying companies and lobbied the Sacramento City Council to pass the Railyards project, the nation’s largest infill project. Through Mr. Wood’s efforts, the Builders’ Exchange organized a 300 e-mail web-based advocacy campaign to support the development. In his new position, Mr. Wood will be responsible for growing the organization by supporting its members and by continuing to work on behalf of the construction community as a whole. The Sacramento Builders’ Exchange dates back to 1901 when a group of local builders (long before licensed contractors) formed an association for the purpose of discussing common problems and exchanging ideas relating to their crafts. The original association has developed into one of the largest and most active Builders’ Exchanges in the Western United States and is recognized as one of the leading organizations representing the overall construction industry in Northern California As a non-profit association, the Sacramento Builders’ Exchange is here to serve our members with our plan room and many other direct services, and to promote the welfare of the construction industry. Our primary objective is the same as it was in 1901; to continue to provide quality service to our membership and to the total construction industry. |
